Welcome to our school...
Welcome to St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School and thank you for taking the opportunity to share a variety of the school's achievements with the wider community. Guided and supported by excellent practitioners, pupils are happy and enthusiastic learners who both welcome and rise to challenge
Staff and parents work in partnership to maintain and further improve the learning opportunities available to children. Academic achievements enable all our pupils to succeed to their full potential.
Our learning environment is stimulating. An ICT suite and interactive whiteboards provide and enhance excellent communications both within school and via links with the University of Cumbria.
At St Bernadette's our school family appreciate the awe and wonder that exists within our outdoor environment. The beautiful grounds provide a stimulating resource for English, Science, Art and Design, Geography and Worship. French is taught throughout the school and children share learning with a partner school in France.
Learning in the Foundation Stage is creatively developed with children having secure access to outdoor learning and teaching experiences. Pupils enjoy their playtimes and benefit from two playground areas, an extensive field, along with a multi-sensory garden area.
Staff strive to develop pupils' confidence and ability to express themselves with other children, adults and the parish community through the Arts and other curriculum subjects. We are proud of the variety of ways in which our children perform through Music, Dance and Drama to audiences of varying sizes, and at a variety of locations.
Achievement is celebrated with equal importance and equal enthusiasm. The school itself has achieved several awards including the Basic Skills Quality Mark (for a second time), Investors in People, and National Healthy Schools which links to the very good Physical Education curriculum.
